About the DAA

The Dairy Adjustment Authority (DAA) was established under the Dairy Industry Adjustment Act 2000 to administer applications and make determinations for the purpose of making Dairy Structural Adjustment Program (DSAP) payments to eligible dairy farmers. With the passage of the Dairy Produce Legislation Amendment (Supplementary Assistance) Act 2001, the functions of the DAA were extended to administer the Supplementary Dairy Assistance (SDA) program.

The DAA comprises a single member, supported by a small management team and is assisted with resources and facilities provided by Dairy Australia Limited.

The DAA will exist until such time as payment of entitlements under DSAP and SDA are finalised.

The ongoing functions of the DAA are to:

  • maintain Register of units;
  • direct Dairy Australia Limited to pay entitlements granted to eligible dairy farmers under DSAP and SDA;
  • oversee arrangements for the ongoing operation of the Dairy Structural Adjustment Fund; and
  • report to the Minister of DAFF on the performance of the DAA's functions.

Statement of Intent by the DAA

The Authority has made a Statement of Intent in response to the Statement of Expectations outlined by the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
