Training

The organisation has an induction process for new staff if required. This includes in-house training, advice on administrative procedures and confidentiality requirements. As well as receiving education on the legislation, staff receive guidance on handling telephone enquiries, and individual training on the computer system and databases.

Given the short-term nature of the Dairy Adjustment Authority, and the temporary employment of the majority of staff members, strategic training and development plans were not generally developed. On-going training and development was undertaken on a needs basis.

The Australian Dairy Corporation's human resources manager continued to advise the Authority on matters relating to workforce planning; training and development; occupational health and safety; and staff retention matters.

Occupational Health and Safety matters are of prime importance to the organisation. The Authority was represented on the Australian Dairy Corporation Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
